Emily and Prestin met in high school (go newport) and started dating during their junior year, in December 2007. They attended homecoming, tolo and prom together.

After graduation, in September 2009, they both left home to attend WWU. They met new friends, found new passions (rugby! watching rugby!), and always stuck together. 

Graduation soon followed, in June 2013 for Emily and August 2013 for Prestin. Emily was hard at work at her new job at r2i in Seattle and Prestin was ready to get working. In December 2013, Prestin moved to LA to do just that. For the next 1.5 years, Emily and Prestin traveled back and forth to be with one another and explore new places. At the end of March 2015, Emily flew down to LA, helped Prestin pack up his car and together they drove off into the sunset... or north, at least. Soon after, Prestin started working at Sesame Communications in Seattle,  down the street from Emily’s office. 

In January 2016, Emily and Prestin moved to Newcastle together and made their new apartment a home. They started carpooling to work everyday, and making home cooked meals together every night. 

In July 2016, Emily and Prestin adopted their adorable beagle - german shepherd pup, Wanda. From then on they enjoyed long walks in the rain, and muddy romps at the dog park. 

Fast forward about 9 months, and Prestin was becoming secretive. He kept hinting at an upcoming trip and told Emily to schedule some PTO, yet she could not figure out what he was up to or where they were going. 

On August 3, 2017, Emily, Prestin, and Wanda got in the car and started driving north. Prestin started a playlist of love songs he had been curating and wouldn’t tell Emily their final destination. She had guesses, of course, but all of them were incorrect. They ended up on the ferry to Lummi Island, then on Lummi Island itself, and then at Willows Inn. Prestin heard about this place 6 months ago, and was excited to finally be here with Emily. It was a gorgeous - yet smoky and humid - day and they went and walked around the island a bit before attempting to cool off. 

Prestin told Emily there was a fancy tasting menu dinner tonight, and she needed to get cleaned up and to look nice. He wanted to make one stop before dinner, he said. As they got ready to leave, Wanda started whining and barking. They were gone but could still hear her, which of course worried Emily. Prestin was encouraging Emily to “calm down” and telling her “Wanda is fine, let’s go” while secretly double checking his pocket. After much fretting, they eventually made it down to the beach. Prestin said some very sweet words including “now or never” and others that neither can remember, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Emily said “of course!”, kissed Prestin, and then proceeded to stage a few photos. 

They then went back up to Willows Inn for the best meal of their lives - 20 courses! fresh smoked salmon! housemade sourdough! just engaged! champagne! kale chips!

On October 28, 2018 they are getting married, and they can’t wait to have you there.
